Best beginner synthesizer?
I have started getting really into dubstep music, and I love playing it on the piano. Problem is, making piano arrangements for dubstep songs is as difficult as nailing jelly to a tree, what with all the deep wobble synths at the drops and the high leads pads. So, I've decided to purchase a synthesizer.I've discovered that in an attempt to simultaneously not make any money and make it very difficult for one to play good sounding music, all Synthesizer companies Korg, Alesis, Novation, Roland, etc have discontinued all the synths that could theoretically be useful to me. So I've decided to buy secondhand of Ebay. It'll be cheaper though, which is a plus.CRITERIA So I originally wanted the synth for the deep synth basses in the songs, but have recently decided that I would probably use it for much more then that. I would be playing lots of dubstep, a little techno, lots of pop, some soundtracks like movie video game type soundtracks. The epic ones , and a couple different rock songs with synth in them. My price range is under $500, but the more I save, obviously the better. I already have a digital piano with 88 keys Casio CDP 220R , so I wouldn't need more then 49 keys on the synth, although 61 would be good. I could theoretically get a synthesizer module and then use my current piano as a MIDI controller, but I'm not 100 % sure that would work answers to that topic would also be appreciated , and laying down several hundred bucks for something you can't use is horrible. I'm looking for a combination of easy interface and lots of sound capabilities By easy interface, I mean LOTS of knobs and sliders and dials and stuff to adjust sound. I can't stand constant menu diving for every little thing. For sound, a plethora of physical adjusters to change the sound makes finding a good sound easier. I like having a big polyphony of at least 8, but I would make do with 4 if need be. I wouldn't need to many pre made patches, but having a lot of spots for user ones would be good.SYNTHS So I looked at the following synths 5 Novation X Station 49 novationmusic.com products midi controller x station Unfortunately no VintageSynth.com page Didn't particularly like it, not sure why. Only 128 spots to save patches to, but I think that would be fine. I would just get this one, but I'm not sure if it would be as well rounded that is to say, able to be used for really anything. I believe it has a sequencer, something that the Alesis Ion doesn't.Which is your favorite? Any tips? Personal experience with any of these? Are the products I found overpriced or a steal? Thanks

What's a good cheap synthesizer for a beginner?
I was thinking of picking up a MicroKORG, though they're a little bit out of my price range. Are there any other keyboards synths out there that offer roughly the same functionality, but for a lower price? Also, I'm aware that there are tons of free VST plugins out there, but I want an actual physical keyboard that I can play on, even if it's just a dumb MIDI slave that relies on an external synth.
What was the most cutting edge synthesizer or keyboard in 1986?
I was just listening to a smooth jazz fusion album from 1986 and I was amazed at the sounds and modern styling they were achieving back then. Sounded like some serious MIDI going on as well excellent production value. Wondering what the cutting edge tech would have been that year? Thanks.

Why are older synthesizers just as expensive as new ones?
Normally, older electronics go down over the years due to wear, erratic functions, repairs, etc. But synthesizers generally stay the exact same price all of their life, even ones that are around 25 years old For instance, the Roland D 550 one I have been wanting for over a year cost about $500 when it first came out in 1987, Several years later, it still retails for about $350 $500. Do the internal chips turn gold over time or something? THERE'S GOT TO BE A REASON WHY
Way to use piano keyboard as synthesizer?
I have an older Yamaha piano keyboard it has basic drum beats, different instrument sounds, and I will be able to plug it in to my computer, I think. is there any way for me to get it to function somewhat as a synthesizer to record electronica music?

So I knoww nothing of synths and I dont live near any music store that I can go to and ask about them. Recently I have become interested in buying one, I own fl studio 10 and cubase 5, both which I can use quite effectively and efficiently and I would like one I can use as an MiDi controller I have absolutely no idea how that works by the way . I would also want want that can make drum and bass sounds guitar is not absolutely necessary because I plan on using this to write full compositions. A voice vocoder not entirely sure what that does entirely might be cool too.
