Is there a transposing option on real pipe organs?
I want to know if I can transpose to a lower key like on electric organs. I'm thinking there is no such thing though.. help me out

How on earth do I quit playing the pipe organ?
Here is the story. My Parents are MAKING me take the pipe organ....They didn't even ask me my opinion... While I was at school they had one built into the wall of my bed room They threw out all of my rap music and my xbox 360 and games to make room for it. I thought I could stuff potatoes into the pipes, that way, when I floored the pedals, the organ engine would blow up....sadly, it did NOT work....what can I do to? I am kind of in a tight spot here...little help...pls...thanx everyone
Can you teach yourself to play the pipe organ?
I play the piano by ear and haven't had any piano lessons since I was about ten I am now fifteen and even then I went too about five, but it was enough to get me round the basics so I could teach myself. I became very interested in the pipe organ, just memorised by the majestic sound which it produces, so I asked my local vicar if she knew of anyone that could teach my to play the pipe organ. This was in vein, however, because the organists she knew of wanted me to at least have Grade 5 Piano, which I don't have and am no where near to getting.But, she said, since my local church's pipe organ has apparently never worked, I could go to the next village's Church and play their Victorian pipe organ which has just one manual. I have been using piano music to play hymns and the like on this organ, but instead of using a left hand accompaniment I have been playing the guitar chords with my left hand.Anyway, what I am REALLY getting at is this 1 Is it possible to teach yourself to play the pipe organ?2 Is there anything different about playing the pipe organ to the piano?3 What do I do with the pedals? > .< Thank you. I am interested in learning to play the pipe organ. At this point I am trying to find a church in the Miami area that has one. Can anybody help me find one, or does anybody know a website that has some kind of list of registered pipe organs in this particular area? Thank you in advance.

i was playing vampire wars on facebook and there is an " old blood" section sorta like how mafia wars has different cities and it has music playing. the music reminds me of graveyards, its generally eerie but i find it very relaxing. it is only a 45 second tune that looped though. so can you guys do me a favor and recommend some gloomy eerie music? i'd say scary, but i dont want to listen to rando people screaming and monster laugh's, i just want some eerie instrumental music that i can meditate to. the main instrument thats used in the song im talking about is the organ piano type and theres church bells, and gongs. the organ is the main sound im looking for thoughif it helps, think of davey jones' love song from pirates of the carribbean. it was also an organ song.lol lugish u troll P

I have searched high and low because I like a very specific sound and I am not coming up with many ideas. On a PIPE ORGAN, is there such thing as having no swell? Just the choir and great manual?
There is this pipe organ that I have to play next week, and I was given a page with the specifications of the organ I haven't seen it so it calls the manuals the Great and the Positive but I always perceived the positive as being the Choir manual not the swell but I have never known an organ to not have a swell manual so is the positive the same as the swell in this case. Below are a list of the specifications. Does the fact it says " the Great being above the Positive" mean that the actual great manual is above the positive or is it just referring to the pipes? Thanks for any advice I am seriously freaking out here i.jones. thanks for answering but what do you mean the organ builder got the terminology right? as in calling the manual the positive? i.jones thank you so much again for answering I hate to bombard you with questions but I am really desperate...one last thing when you said that the manuals coupling to each other isn't uncommon I know that but is it common for the Lower manual to be coupled to the Upper manual? i.e. Swell Positive to Great...I would have thought they made a mistake here and it is actually Great to Positive Upper to Lower is that what you think? The reason that is important is because in the piece I am playing, I have been practicing on an organ with the coupler Swell to Great which means when I am switching manuals I have been going from Top to Bottom however...if the coupler is Great to Swell on this organ which I will be playing on next week I need to know whether I should practice going from the Bottom manual to the Top manual instead i.e. switching everything to the opposite way Once again...Thank you and sorry for asking so many questions.
